anger from love

There's a flip side to this. When attacked by liberals with labels like "homophobe" and "racist", the response of conservatives is often to ridicule those liberals. That's unproductive. Only half of social maturity is how you treat others; the other half is how you respond to mistreatment.

If you ridicule someone, it is unlikely that person will start genuinely listening to your arguments or try to reconcile anytime soon. Christ's command to "turn the other cheek" (often mistaken as a rejection of violence) is counsel against vengeful behavior like this.

If you want to change and hallow hearts, you must strive to keep love in your own heart during the worst tantrums of injustice. If God can be angry, then it is certainly alright for us to be angry at times. But just anger is fueled and tempered by love. If you find yourself losing your hold on love during a debate, it's time to walk away and pray.
